Muneera Al-Baker: Making a global impact
As we approach Graduation Day for the Class of 2024, we are sharing the stories of just a few of these remarkable people who will receive their degrees on May 6. Today we learn more about Muneera Al-Baker, who is graduating with her degree in information systems.
During her undergraduate years, Muneera Al-Baker found a way to make a difference at CMU-Q, within Education City, and on the world stage.
While pursuing her degree in information systems, Muneera was very active within Education City. She served as an Education Above All Youth Advocate, sharing her passion for education at the WISE conference, the UN Economic and Social Council youth forum, and the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. She also won the Akhlaquna award for Arabic calligraphy art, and the Najah Qatari award for best youth initiative.
“Being part of the Education City community has been a transformative experience,” she said. “Whether participating in EMPOWER, ROTA or WISE, I’ve been constantly inspired by the collective efforts of the community to make a positive impact locally and globally.”
Looking ahead, Muneera plans to pursue a master’s degree in cybersecurity. “After completing my graduate studies, I plan to work in cybersecurity, leveraging my skills and education to contribute to the protection of digital assets, infrastructure, and information in Qatar.”
Reflecting on her time at CMU-Q, Muneera points to one experience that stood above the rest. “Serving as president of the Qatari Student Association was a big achievement for me. I had the privilege of fostering a sense of community and pride among my Qatari peers, and sharing our culture with the international students.”
As she begins her career journey, Muneera feels she has the tools she needs: “CMU-Q provided me with a top-notch education, and also instilled in me the confidence, resilience, and adaptability I will need to pursue my career with passion and purpose.”
