New students explore Carnegie Mellon Qatar at welcome event

Newly admitted students to Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q) gathered to explore their majors, meet their professors and current students, and learn more about student life. CMU-Q is a Qatar Foundation partner university.

Michael Trick, dean of CMU-Q, is looking forward to the new class starting their studies in August. “This year was our most competitive admission cycle in campus history. The new students are exceptionally talented, and I know I speak for everybody at CMU-Q when I congratulate them on their admission to our campus.”

The application numbers at CMU-Q rose by 45% for the class starting in August 2023. The admitted class includes many students who have won notable national awards, and a number are considered among the very best students in their respective countries. 

The admitted students come from 99 high schools in 47 countries, and 62% are women. 

Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar offers undergraduate programs in biological sciences, business administration, computer science and information systems.
