The Degree:

As an Information Systems major, you will be enrolled in the prestigious Information Systems program originating in Carnegie Mellon's College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Upon completion of our 4-year program, you will be granted a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Information Systems The IS degree program is a natural complement to the two existing majors offered by Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar: Business Administration and Computer Science. Information Systems combines many of the technical aspects of Computer Science with the analysis skills of Business Administration.

The Objective:

Information Systems (IS) is a unique and innovative interdisciplinary program in Carnegie Mellon's College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Drawing on a wide range of exciting college and university strengths, IS majors study the organizational, technological, economic and societal aspects of information systems. Students completing the program will be well grounded in the fundamentals of organization theory, decision making, teamwork and leadership, and research methods as well as current and emerging information systems technologies.

The Methodology:

The Information Systems Program appeals to outstanding students with a wide range of backgrounds and interests. The flexible nature of the program encourages students to explore their own interests in a contemporary content area, such as professional communications, organizations, business and economics, and global systems. All Information Systems students at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar have the opportunity to complete a minor in another field, such as business administration or computer science. The focus of the Information Systems program is on giving students the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively accomplish these tasks. IS majors master the skills needed to bring together people, process and technology in a way that yields results. The flexible nature of the IS program encourages students to explore their own interests in a contemporary content area, such as professional communications, organizations, business and economics or global systems. Information Systems is an ideal major for students who want a career that encompasses working with both computers and people.
