• Web Course “Creating a Successful Business Plan”
• Carnegie Mellon has a partnership with UNext/Cardean University in which we supply course material and content for web courses that are offered on a for-fee basis, with CMU receiving a royalty on course revenues. During the last few months, I have authored a course titled “Creating a Successful Business Plan” as part of this program. The course is divided into five sections:
1. Anatomy of a Business Plan — covers the purposes, structure, content and audience of a successful business plan.
2. Is the Opportunity Real? — covers idea generation and validation, as well as market validation and research.
3. Can You Win? — covers the essentials of developing business strategies, financial and resource projections and fielding a winning team for the venture.
4. Is It Worth It? — covers assessing the expected financial returns and comparing them to the investment criteria of potential sponsors and investors.
5. Packaging the Business Plan — deals with the packaging of the business plan into a well-presented business document.
