Nominees demonstrate the following:
- Identifies student’s needs and expectations and responds appropriately.
- Considers the impact on the student when taking action, setting policies or carrying out tasks.
- Ability to involve students in decision-making/seeks student’s input.
- Refers students to the appropriate department or employee to solve specific problems; and to perform appropriate follow-up as needed with the student to ensure that their concern has been addressed.
- Dedication to continuously improve student satisfaction and engagement -- and seeks to remove barriers to outstanding service.

- They have fostered cooperation and collaboration between the university and its constituents to better serve the Carnegie Mellon community.
- They have committed their time and energy to working together with others as a team to improve and enhance Carnegie Mellon University globally.
